An Experience to Experience
On the 7th of September 2021, seven young Greeks met in the beautiful town of Ommen in the Netherlands for the very first time. Their goal was to connect with other humans with a common interest, MovIn!
The youth exchange MovIn! took place in the magical Olde Vechte foundation and it involved young people from Spain, Croatia, Estonia, Poland, Italy, Romania,Germany, Netherlands and of course Greece. The theme of the project was expression and communication through body movement and dance. After months of social distancing we had the chance to touch, feel and create with others in a safe and inclusive environment.
We were given the opportunity to improve our dancing skills, learn from others and create our own workshops. We treated our bodies holistically not only with dances but through mental health workshops, vocalisation and theater.
In the middle of the week, we went on an adventure to discover the town of Ommen, meeting locals and getting out of our comfort zone while completing tasks.
Overall, we created a community in which we were all responsible for cooking, cleaning and keeping everything in order for 10 full & creative days.
We appreciated the energy and the vibe of the group. We were in an environment of warmth, solidarity, support and understanding where we could fully express ourselves and genuily connect with others. We will leave MovIn! full of new experiences, self awareness, knowledge and confidence.
