The “Women in Science” event of the informal Young Heraklion Youth Club “Youthtopia” which took place in the Manolis Karellis (formerly Androgeo) Hall on Saturday, February 9, was crowned with great success. On the occasion of the World Day for Women and Girls in Science (11 February), our speakers, especially from the sciences, talked about the position of female gender in their field, the balance between professional careers and their family and the problems that they encountered on their way to the top. Of course, the male perspective could not be omitted, with a flashback in the past, but also a forecast for the future of women in the scientific field. We would like to warmly thank our speakers :
- Dr. Vamvakaki M., Proffessor, TETY, University of Crete
- Dr. Poirazi P., Research Director IMBB, ITE
- Dr. Dourmousi E., Marie Curie Scholarship ITE
- Dr. Fatourou P., Assoc. CSD Professor, ITE
- Dr. Oikonomou E., Professor of Physics, University of Crete
We would also like to thank for the excellent collaboration , the team “Science Behind”, which during the break carried out interesting experiments, as well as the “Astronomical Students Group of the University of Crete” for the demonstration of telescopes.
